![]() ![]() He realizes that his weakness was the reason that the other rusted item got taken and he's determined to take it back. This once again destroys his confidence, however unlike last time he doesn't get as depressed. Post game honestly continues his development again as now we have the two "Royals" enter the scene and one of them absolutely crushes Hop while you win. He also helps you with the Rose and Eternatus issue (which is a poorly written plotline) which sets up his connection with the second legendary doggo. This hurts him a lot, yet he still wants to cheer you on. During the Semifinals, this development comes to its penultimate stage where her fights you with everything he has, and still loses. It isn't until the 6th gym where he starts to get his confidence back. This goes so far as to him losing simple gym challenges on his first go, which only continue to he his confidence shot. On top of that, he is constantly losing to you and as such his morale is literally getting destroyed for literally the entire game. He now can see how strong others are and even recognize how powerful Leon is and that he needs to work on it. This legit strikes a personal cord with Hop as now he is seeing that he's not a good as he should be. ![]() Hop's development begins once he is defeated by Bede and is told that he's bringing the name of his idol and brother down. He isn't a douchebag rival, yet he is still highly competitive and wants to beat you which shows in gameplay as he uses different teams in these attempts. He is not weighed down by any responsibility, he just wants to create his own legend. ![]() He's a guy who has looked up to Leon all his life and wants to surpass him. Hau's development stemed from having to deal with the expectations of being the Kahuna's grandson and more or less getting him to stop being so lax and actually take battles seriously. Both start out as pretty happy and nice dudes, but their stories go in different directions. Hop's development is actually much different than Hau. ![]() I actually disagree with people saying Hop is Hau 2.0. He's still annoying and his presence could have been replaced with a 4th rival or more Bede/Piers and his sister interaction He learns about his motives, his desires and it should have jumped in front of our eyes as Hop wants to help the Pokemons, a major difference between him and his Brother just here to make the "Pokemon master" title shine. But when his overconfidence takes over and makes him loose against Bede and chain loose against trainers, he truly reconsider his life choice. His initial Dream is to be like his brother and acts undefeated. The idea is good but the execution was horrible.īede truly had "personnal" changes and his life took a turn.īut Hop was hit by a train of lemon. That's also a reason why I like the team Yell more compared to other team, you truly understand them and admire Piers, they just want to make their city looks good. I honestly feel that the story was never meant to be around dynamax and the legendary pokemon but more the development of the trainers.
